    Who can come?

    The women’s shelter Cocon is open to all women and their children. 

    Regardless of: 

    • skin color

    • cultural background

    • religion

    • sexual orientation


    • It doesn’t matter if you speak German or not

    • You can always come to us. Day or night.

    • Your stay in the women’s shelter will be voluntary. You won’t have to pay anything.

    • If you’re under emotional and mental stress: you can also come to the women’s shelter

    • In the women’s shelter, you will manage your own daily life.

    • The address of the women’s shelter is secret. Men are not allowed into the women’s shelter.

    • In the women’s shelter there are a few rules:
      · no alcohol
      · no drugs

      The women’s shelter is not a shelter for homeless women.
      We cannot offer medical care.
      And we cannot offer care for mental illness.
      The women’s shelter is unfortunately not disabled-accessible

    What is domestic violence?

    violence in your own home.

    The perpetrators can include: 

    • husbands

    • partners

    • relatives


    The following are examples of domestic violence:

    • abuse

    • insults

    • verbal abuse

    • humiliation

    • constant control

    • the woman may make no decision of her own

    • the woman has her money taken away

    • the woman is locked in

    • the woman is forced to have sex

    • the woman is raped

    • the woman is threatened

    • the woman’s movements are monitred

    We will support you and children in various areas. So that you can start a new life. A life without violence.

    We will support you: 

    • with money issues

    • with legal issues

    • if you need to find a new accommodation

    • with personal issues

    • with health issues resulting from violence

    • with issues concerning your seperation from your violent partner

    • with issues concerning your children’s upbringing

    • if you need to look for other advice centers

    What can I bring?

    In case of emergency you don’t need to bring anything with you! 

    If you can:
    Please bring your documents.
    These will allow us to help you better to deal with any bureaucratic issues.
    And to help your children. 

    Please bring the following documents: 

    • your ID or Passport

    • your health insurance card

    • residence permit (if you have one)

    • Tenancy agreement

    • Your birth certificate

    • important insurance documents

    • important documents concerning your assets

    • documents concerning the custody arrangements for your children

    • doctor’s certificates

    • marriage certificte

    • tax ID number

    • documents concerning you pension


    you schould also think about bringing: 

    • money

    • a debit or credit card

    • school equipment

    • your children’s favorite toys
